Our Services

Nine Planned Services

Harmony's service model is designed to cover the full arc of later life — from help with an ordinary day, through specialised medical and memory care, to comfort and dignity at the end of life, and support for the family afterwards. All nine are planned services, intended for the facility once it is built, staffed, and licensed.

At a glance

Nine planned services in four categories

An integrated model

One organisation, not nine institutions

The strength of Harmony's model is that the nine services are connected. A resident is not handed between separate providers as their needs change — they stay within one coordinated care system, with one record and one team. The plan describes a path that can run like this:

  1. 01

    Assisted living

An older adult joins Harmony because they need help with the activities of daily life.

  2. 02

    Rehabilitation

After a stroke or a fall, they receive physiotherapy and occupational therapy on site.

  3. 03

    Skilled nursing

Their needs grow to include medication management, monitoring, and wound care.

  4. 04

    Palliative care

With an advanced condition, the goal of care shifts to comfort, dignity, and relief.

  5. 05

    End-of-life care

Care continues where they live, following their own wishes and applicable professional standards.

  6. 06

    Mortuary care

After death, Harmony provides or coordinates dignified mortuary care, subject to authorisation.

  7. 07

    Funeral support

The family is helped with the practical work of arranging a funeral.

  8. 08

    Bereavement support

The family continues to receive emotional, social, and spiritual support, or referral onward.

In detail

What each planned service is intended to involve

The descriptions below set out our intentions for each service area once the facility is built, staffed, and licensed.

Planned Service

Assisted Living

Residential accommodation with daily support for older people who no longer wish to live alone but do not need continuous medical care.

Assisted living is intended to be the heart of Harmony: a settled home for older adults who need a reliable hand with the ordinary business of a day. The plan is for accommodation with accessible bathrooms, call systems, and staff present around the clock, combined with shared dining and social spaces so that support never means isolation. Residents would keep as much independence as they want and receive help with exactly as much as they need.

What this service is intended to include

  • Private and shared accessible accommodation
  • Assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
  • Medication reminders and supervision
  • Three prepared meals daily with dietary adaptation
  • Housekeeping, laundry, and personal-care supplies
  • Intended 24-hour on-site staffing and emergency call response
  • Daily social, recreational, and spiritual activity
Planned Service

Memory Care

A secure, calm, specifically staffed environment for residents living with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other cognitive decline.

Memory care is planned as a distinct wing rather than an add-on, because dementia changes what a safe building looks like. The intention is a secure perimeter that prevents wandering without feeling locked, clear sight lines and simple wayfinding, reduced noise and visual clutter, and staff trained specifically in dementia communication and de-escalation. Routines would be kept predictable, and families would be included in care planning as the condition changes.

What this service is intended to include

  • A secure wing designed to prevent unsafe wandering
  • Staff trained in dementia-specific care and communication
  • Simplified, low-stimulation wayfinding and interiors
  • Structured daily routine and cognitive engagement activity
  • Enclosed outdoor space for safe independent walking
  • Behavioural support planning developed with families
  • Intended continuous supervision
Planned Service

Skilled Nursing and Medical Care

Clinical nursing care on site, for residents with chronic conditions, complex medication needs, or recovery after hospital treatment.

Harmony intends to provide genuine clinical capability rather than referring every medical need elsewhere. The plan covers qualified nursing cover, treatment and observation space, chronic disease monitoring for conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, wound and catheter care, and structured coordination with visiting physicians and nearby hospitals. The aim is that a resident's ordinary health needs are met where they live.

What this service is intended to include

  • Intended qualified nursing presence on site
  • Medication management, administration, and review
  • Monitoring of chronic conditions and vital signs
  • Wound, pressure-area, catheter, and continence care
  • Post-hospital and post-surgical recovery support
  • Coordination with visiting doctors and referral hospitals
  • Individual care plans reviewed with residents and families
Planned Service

Rehabilitation

Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and recovery programmes to help older people regain strength, movement, and independence.

Rehabilitation is intended both for residents and for older people in the community recovering from a stroke, fracture, surgery, or long illness. The plan includes a dedicated therapy space with equipment for mobility and strength work, therapy-led programmes to restore the practical skills of daily living, falls-prevention assessment, and guidance on mobility aids. The goal of every programme is the same: return as much function and confidence as possible.

What this service is intended to include

  • Physiotherapy for strength, balance, and mobility
  • Occupational therapy for the practical tasks of daily life
  • Post-stroke, post-fracture, and post-surgical recovery programmes
  • Falls risk assessment and prevention
  • Mobility aid assessment, fitting, and training
  • Pain and joint management in coordination with nursing
  • Home exercise guidance for families to continue
Planned Service

Hospice and Palliative Care

Comfort-focused care for residents with advanced or life-limiting illness, alongside support for the people closest to them.

When treatment can no longer change the outcome, care should change its aim. Harmony's palliative plan centres on relief — of pain, breathlessness, anxiety, and indignity — delivered by staff trained to recognise and respond to symptoms early. The intention is that residents are not transferred away at the end of life, that families can stay close, and that spiritual and emotional care is offered to everyone involved, including staff.

What this service is intended to include

  • Pain and symptom relief as the primary goal of care
  • Care planning that follows the resident's own wishes
  • Continuous comfort care, day and night
  • Private space for families to remain close
  • Spiritual and emotional accompaniment on request
  • Coordination with palliative specialists and referral services
  • A continuous path into bereavement support for the family
Planned Service

Health and Wellness

Preventive health, nutrition, gentle fitness, and social engagement intended to keep residents well rather than only treat illness.

The least expensive care is the care that prevents decline. Harmony's wellness plan covers routine screening, nutrition built around older adults' actual needs, exercise pitched at real mobility levels, and — just as importantly — company. Loneliness is treated here as a health issue, so the programme is designed around shared meals, group activity, gardening, music, and faith practice as much as around blood pressure checks.

What this service is intended to include

  • Routine health screening and monitoring
  • Nutrition planning and therapeutic diets
  • Gentle group exercise, stretching, and walking programmes
  • Mental wellbeing support and companionship
  • Social, cultural, musical, and spiritual activity
  • Vision, hearing, dental, and foot-care coordination
  • Health education for residents and families
Planned Service

Home Care and Community-Based Rehabilitation

Care that travels: planned visiting support and rehabilitation for older people who remain in their own homes in the surrounding community.

Most older people will stay at home, and Harmony is intended to serve them too. The plan is for trained caregivers and therapy staff to visit homes in the surrounding community, providing personal care, nursing tasks, and rehabilitation where people already live. Community-based rehabilitation would also train family members to care more safely and confidently, extending the facility's reach well past its own walls.

What this service is intended to include

  • Scheduled caregiver visits for personal and daily care
  • Nursing tasks delivered at home
  • Community-based physiotherapy and mobility rehabilitation
  • Training and coaching for family caregivers
  • Home safety assessment and falls-risk reduction
  • Respite cover so family carers can rest or work
  • Referral into facility-based services when needs increase
Planned Service

Mortuary Services

Dignified, respectful care of the deceased, provided on site so that families are not left to arrange it under pressure.

Harmony intends to provide mortuary facilities as part of a continuous commitment: the care a person received in life should not end abruptly at death. Planned provision covers respectful preparation and safekeeping of the deceased, a private space for families to view and pray, and handling that observes the family's religious and cultural practices. Offering this on site is intended to spare grieving families a scramble between institutions.

What this service is intended to include

  • Respectful preparation and care of the deceased
  • Appropriate on-site safekeeping facilities
  • A private, quiet space for family viewing and prayer
  • Observance of religious and cultural requirements
  • Clear, unhurried guidance on documentation
  • Coordination with funeral arrangements
  • Care extended to families from the wider community
Planned Service

Funeral and Bereavement Support

Practical help with funeral arrangements and continuing emotional support for families after a death.

Grief does not end with a burial, and the practical demands of a funeral arrive at the worst possible time. Harmony plans to help families coordinate arrangements, provide space for memorial gatherings, and — crucially — stay in contact afterwards. Planned bereavement support includes individual and group accompaniment for families, and for the staff and fellow residents who also lose someone they knew.

What this service is intended to include

  • Practical coordination of funeral arrangements
  • Space for memorial and remembrance gatherings
  • Guidance through administrative and documentation steps
  • Individual bereavement accompaniment for family members
  • Peer support groups for the recently bereaved
  • Remembrance of residents within the Harmony community
  • Support for staff and residents who are also grieving

What comes next

These nine services depend on what we raise now

Every service on this page is costed in the foundation's planning and none of it exists yet. Construction, equipment, qualified staff, and licensing all come before the first resident arrives — and all of it depends on the support we are seeking today.
